My students have been working incredibly hard to pass their AP exams, and throughout the year I have been learning to create and edit instructional videos so they may work on schoolwork at any time. However, my students need videos that are able to show multiple angles of an experiment being set up, and the ability to see video spliced together in slow motion. With this quarantine, I now need to create and edit videos at home, and sadly my old home laptop just ain't up to the challenge.
This project would provide a laptop that is capable of editing video at home and school so I can create great-looking instructional videos for the students to do labs and activities at home.
When we are finally allowed to go back to school, I will absolutely continue to make these videos because it has proven to be a quality tool for teaching. If a student is struggling, they can move at their own pace through the video content. This gives students plenty of chances to learn the material in a way that makes sense to them. I would like a surface pro because my content can be a bit mathematical at times and being able to write with the laptop lets me make videos just like as if I was writing on a whiteboard. Plus I have a sneaky feeling this is the direction education is headed, so I feel like learning to make quality video content is letting me get ahead of the game a little.
