My students LOVE our planting unit every year. Our class creates mini-greenhouses during STEM class and my students are always asking me if we could build a life size one for the school. Healthy eating is very important for brain growth and stimulation. Unfortunately, living in Vermont, the winter months are long, dreary, and cold. The students don't get a lot of time before school gets out to plant outside and watch their plants mature. It would amazing if we could plant ALL year round inside our classroom. Since my students are so excited and enthusiastic about gardening, I took their idea and ran with it. I am requesting the Growlabs and a variety of planters, seeds and gardening accessories, so that my students can have access to gardening all year long. They will learn about each individual plant, the benefits each plant has on the human body, and collaborative skills it takes to plant and care for a garden. These donations will help open students minds up to healthy eating and help them feel a since of accomplishment when we begin eating the food we grow.
