I am a NBCT and TFA alumna working relentlessly towards closing the opportunity gap for 13 years as a classroom and art teacher as a Title I school in Seattle. I serve diverse learners. Despite high needs (85% FRL, 42%ELL, 16% SpEd) my school has been named a school of distinction. As a Visual Arts Specialist, I am able to reach students through the arts; giving them access to in-depth, enriching and meaningful whole-child learning experiences. I also collaborate with teachers to integrate art with their curriculum. While many arts programs are disappearing, we have a flourishing arts program; hallways are filled with students' creations and they learning valuable 21st Century Skills such as perseverance and critical thinking. Art is safe place and meaningful form of expression for all children. Your support would mean increased access to arts education and infused arts learning for my innovative artists!
