Every student deserves an environment where they can focus to learn. During our school day, students participate in learning on their iPads using applications such as Zearn (math practice), IXL (math and Language Arts practice), Lexia (reading development), and other reading programs where they are required to listen to learn. It can be very difficult to focus in a classroom where not every student is able to buy headphones. This is especially evident this year because the many students' ability to focus has been affected by last year's challenges with COVID-19. The use of headphones helps students block out distracting noises around them, better understand the content that is being delivered to them, and in turn, learn more effectively. Often I have noticed that students hold their iPads up to their ears to hear. They need to be able to listen clearly. I have also noticed that some students can be distracted from their own work by other students' iPad noises. I would love for students to be able to learn in a more focused environment. The funding of this project will allow students to be more successful and focused in many subject areas!
