I am applying for Donors Choose because I would love the opportunity for this professional development. As a veteran teacher, one thing I have learned is that I need to continue to learn and grow. Students are so much more diverse than when I began teaching. There are students with special needs, different cultures, academic challenges (above, on grade level and below grade level), as well as mental and physical health issues. I want to be able to take the information learned and help my students grow, no matter what their needs might be. I love teaching and want to always provide my students with a quality education, meeting their needs to help them to be successful. This conference will help build on what I know and give me fresh new ideas to adapt to the diverse populations. Every child deserves to learn at their own rate. With limited funding for resources, staff and materials, much of the work falls on the regular education teacher. I want to learn the best strategies to help ALL of my students achieve success. My desire is to teach the child, not the curriculum. With that comes many challenges. I want to teach so that they will use this knowledge to transfer to all areas throughout their lives.
