I focus on mindfulness when working with my high school students. So many of my students have experienced traumatic events in their lives. The students come to school with depression and anxiety from the events they have suffered. Students need coping mechanisms. With the project, I want to build a library of not only strategies but also have novels students can read that related to their experiences. The books in this project are for me to use to begin small group focus sessions with students. Students will be able to sign up to attend the sessions but it will not be mandated. Students will also be able to drop by to pick up a book to read. The books are different from the ones we have in our school library.
