My first grade classroom is very busy, and full of laughter and love. We have started using Whole Brain Teaching in our classroom, so there is always a lot going on. The student's are chanting, hand gestures, repeating, and spending a lot of time working with partners and in groups. In first grade I get to watch my students take off in reading. I get to see their eyes light up when they are able to put sentences together, and then paragraphs, and then pages. The students love to work in partners, and small groups. My students have a love for technology, and often get upset when it is not their turn to use one of the two computers in the classroom. When the students get to use the computers they work on programs such as Study Island and Renaissance Learning to practice different Communication Arts and Mathematics skills.
