My students are wonderful children who are eager to learn, but for some reason have a tendency to lag behind other students in the district. I believe confidence is the problem. The school struggles with meeting testing goals. The students have many variables that contribute to their low performance. The negative overtones that surround the school and the community due to economic and crime rate affects student morale. The school itself fosters an environment that tries to give students a better learning experience to help them become contributing members of society. It is a constant struggle to catch them while they are young. This starts with providing them with the best learning experiences to ensure that they rise above their circumstances. When students engage with materials and each other in collaborative and cooperative ways they are learning life skills that take them into a better and positive future. The excitement on their faces and love for learning is why I teach.
