The library serves a diverse population of approximately 360 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Thirty two percent of the students are on free and reduced lunch. Due to budget cuts the school has not had a full time librarian in five years and no librarian the last two years. Most of the nonfiction books are out-of-date and do not appeal to junior high students. I was hired as the librarian September of 2013. The students have been appreciative and receptive to library programs that were initiated this school year.
