My students are on an alternative diploma track. The receive job training and academic help related to entering the job field instead of post secondary options, although, some student have attended technical colleges. Our school is 70% poverty status and parents struggles to make ends meet. Today's student spend 90% of their time online or using technology. It is imperative that my students not only develop 21st century skills to be employable, but learn how to use the Internet wisely and appropriately. Integrating video based and simulated based course work help my students to build their base skills while giving more students opportunities to show what they know. Computer-based curriculum help my student to build confidence while understanding skill needed to be a competent, capable worker. Raising expectations and rigor for my students puts them in better position to excel once they graduate.
