My school is suburban middle school with a high percentage of students with free and reduced priced lunch. We are the smallest middle school in the district and with funding based on enrollment; we don't have a big budget for science. Many of my students haven't been encouraged to succeed. I believe in my students and want them to believe in themselves. I strive to engage my students. If students are engaged then learning comes naturally. Students today are tuned into technology. The majority of my students don't have access to Internet or computers at home. By using an iPad, I can expose students to a variety of engaging scientifically relevant apps. By projecting the iPad for the whole class, I can use one iPad to access the multitude of available apps and share it with the entire class. This will allow my students to benefit from current technology that other students have access to. This will allow them to become more confident and realize they can be successful.
