It is currently summer vacation, but I have met my students that will be coming into my classroom in the fall. They are energetic, compassionate, and very intelligent. My school has a wide range of demographics. We have students from high middle class families to at times homeless children that are living in shelters. We have about 550 to 590 students in grades K-5. The students in my classroom come from various backgrounds and they show a high tolerance for differences in each other. They do not see the economic differences at all. They are hard workers and love to read. Their teachers from last year have told me how much they love to learn new things and write about them. Our school is currently working on getting more technology for our students to get them ready for the online testing of the Common Core.
