What I love about my firsties is that they always try their best even when they are unsure how to solve a problem. What makes them special is their unique way of learning. I like to advocate for child-centered instruction and that means going above and beyond to get the resources they need to be successful. In our classroom, we are a family. My sweet students work hard each day to succeed in school, despite coming from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our classroom community encourages a growth mindset. If you believe it, you can achieve it! Some of our daily activities include reading workshop (read to self, buddy read, listening station, free writing, and word study), math workshop (math tubs, computer games, partner problem solving, iPad fact fluency), social studies, science, and more! We love centers and small group instruction time.
