My students are wonderful students who have lots of struggles. The majority of my students are low-income and receive free lunch. Many of my students are language learners. They are eager to learn, but many are lacking social skills and academic skills to be successful in society. Bullying (or teasing) happens a lot at my school. This book would allow my students to read about someone going through a personal struggle and is being treated poorly. This will hopefully give them someone to relate to and a perspective on how it feels to be treated poorly - which would hopefully get them to think twice before being mean to others.
