I feel fortunate that I am starting the coming year with many of the families I had in my 1-2 blended class last year. The returning students are enthusiastic about hands-on science activities and bring a wide variety of interests and experiences to our community. Last year, we began the year by making a list of our 'hopes and dreams'. Their ideas were included in the yearlong curriculum plan. Students journaled as they experimented with making bubbles with their bodies and dressed like ancient Egyptians when they learned about the pyramids. We ended the year by making a list of our favorite activities. Most of the students mentioned the science or art projects we completed in class.
