Most of our students have parents who are considered poverty working class who are often not available or lack the ability to help their children with instruction, especially reading and phonics. My special needs students enter the class with little or no knowledge of letters or letter sounds. They have not been read to or encouraged to read and often lack in conversational language. Their knowledge of sounds and language is significantly delayed. Thank you for reading my proposal. With your support we can make the most important difference in these special needs students education. Together we can produce independent readers.
