Flexible seating works! I used my own money to purchase some flexible seating options for my classroom earlier this year and the results have been amazing. I have seen kids being able to stay focused longer, learn what works best for them as learners, and increase productivity. I have seen the positive effects of seating that allows to children to move can provide and I would love to extend it to my small group instruction. I have regular chairs at my U table where I do most of my instruction throughout the day. These chairs do not allow the kids to move like the other options in my classroom do. As a result, kids are constantly off task, leaning or falling out of their chairs, and not able to get the most out of my instruction. I know that the kids in my class could benefit so much from having some stools that allow them to move while they learn.
