I teacher wonderful children in a high poverty, rural school. My school is small, around 350 students. Most of my students spend minimal time at home reading and thinking critically, as most children in poverty do. I am lucky to have around 20 students a year and I work very hard to expose them to things in the world. We spend time learning about how others live across the globe, look at things from a different point of view, and decide how that can apply to life in our little town. At the beginning of the year my students are very immature cognitively and by the end of they year, they have evolved into thinkers ready to conquer the world due to what they have been exposed to and the experiences they have had.
