SUPER School stands for Students Understanding through Powerful and Energetic Routines. Research shows that the brain slows down in the learning process the longer a child sits. Movement improves blood flow and delivery of oxygen, allowing the brain to function at a higher level. Students can be given information by educators, but in order for children to embed information into memory, students need to learn through experience and movement. This is why at the SUPER School students are engaged in kinesthetic learning. My students come to the Action Based Learning Lab two to three times a week. The ABL Lab integrates movement with academics to help students anchor their learning. SUPER School has 92% of the student population who receive free or reduced lunch. Forty percent of our student population is Hispanic, 38.3 Caucasian, 18.1% African American, and 3.1% Multiracial.
