For the past 3 years, I've had the honor and privilege to coach some of the hardest working runners in the Bronx. All of whom are committed to their growth both on the field and in the classroom. Everyday at 4 o'clock they arrive to practice driven, motivated and eager to become better runners than they'd started. At our Charter School we empower children in an educational environment that addresses and reduces the barriers to academic success through the integration of family support services with a rigorous, college-preparatory academic program. Scholars involvement in running club has taught them about the importance of teamwork, perseverance and leadership.( Many of our student athletes return to take on a leadership in joining our Futures Alumni volunteer program after graduating from 5th grade to assist with coaching the younger team members.)
