My students have a low engagement and these tablets can provide the necessary motivation to be successful. My students come from a urban population with at least 65% free and reduced status. In math class students need to have opportunities to experience real life math applications and I am hoping that using these tools can provide that pathway. Problem solving is a need that is high in our school. Many students lack the confidence to problem solve because they fear the idea of failure. I want my classroom to be a place where students do not fear failure. Learning is using different problem solving techniques. Math is more than a right response. It is thinking and understanding that there is more than one way to solve a problem. This project is intended to allow students the chances to strategically explore math concepts, make mistakes, revise, and then succeed.
