My students are a diverse group of first graders. Their personalities explode from their bodies and minds. They take risks and love to share what they know. They get excited when they can read a book. Every success helps their confidence grow and lays a strong foundation they will stand on for the many years ahead of them. It is important that they learn to read so that they can do anything they can imagine in the future. Some students come to school with less exposure to vocabulary and books than others. Every child in this first grade classroom and the classes that follow will benefit from reading these books.
