I am a kindergarten teacher at a very low income school. This year, I have 25 students in my classroom. During our reading block, I meet with small groups while the rest of my students are at literacy centers working on skills that will help them become better readers. They work on "word work" activities, sight words, independent reading, and writing activities. My students enjoy these activities, and I have definitely noticed their reading skills improving. However, I always wished that I could be there to help them with the activities that were hard for them, or to differentiate activities more efficiently in order to better meet their needs.
