My students have a lot of forces against them, and yet they come to school each day ready to learn in hopes of graduating. Some students have parents who did not finish school, and they desire to change that pattern in their family, and even go into college. They have forces against them due to living in a low income area. They struggle to stay out of the gang life that they live around. At our school we have over 90% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch and breakfast. They come to school hungry, yet we make sure they eat, so that they are ready to learn. These students only wish to have the fancy electronic devices that they see students in other schools have. Our school and classroom is a second home that these students want to come to each day, and when we go on vacation they only wish for it to end so they can come back. We enjoy each day with our students, and we enjoy even more when they come back regularly to visit!
