This magnet school engages students in rigorous academic and career-related curriculum. The school serves a diverse student population of 474 students with ethnic representation as follows: African American, 26.6%; Hispanic, 69.4%; White, 2.1%; Asian, 1.5%; and Multi-Racial, 0.4%. Approximately 78% of the students are on Free or Reduced lunch, and many of our students will be first-generation college students. Approximately 94% of our students experience AP courses during high school. A similar percentage engage in dual credit opportunities on and/or off-campus before graduation. Our parents appreciate the advantages that education affords, however many of them lack the ability to share personal experiences to guide students in making decisions regarding understanding fiscal responsibility; accessing and managing college debt; establishing and maintaining good credit; developing college and career readiness skills; and navigating the corporate environment in a global economy.
