We are a primarily Latino/a district. Some of my students are working in our Honors program as first generation college hope-to graduates. Others are working minimum wage jobs and helping their parents pay the bills without legal citizenship. Many of them read below grade level and I am desperate for novels to motivate them. I usually buy the books online with my own money, but money is tight and I could really use the assistance. My classroom is a warm, inviting place where creativity is encouraged, hard work is key, and tough love prevails.
