I teach eleventh grade in a high need community in St. Louis. I teach at a highly unique school which targets high school students who are not successful, for a variety of reasons, in the traditional school setting. We are a small school and our focus is "one student at a time." We individualize the learning process and rely heavily on individual student interests/passions and find ways to connect those interests with real world experiences, and then connect that to classroom curriculum. Students work on individualized projects and share their knowledge on a regular basis with their peers. The students present Exhibitions every quarter in which they share work that they have completed throughout the quarter to show mastery of objectives. Instead of every student making copies of their evidence of work, the document camera would be a great way to help us share the knowledge without wasting a ton of paper on copies!
