No matter what is going on in my student's lives, they come through the classroom door ready to learn something new. All of our special education students are mainstreamed; therefore we are always accommodating lessons in multiple ways for each diverse learner. The state has raised the standards for reading from 47 w/p/m to 69 and I have found high interest applications to give them the extra resource to increase their fluency. I have let students use my iphone along the way on field trips to practice their sight words and they were begging me for a turn! It was simply amazing to see their desire to read due to these fun applications. I want to see them meet this high benchmark of 69 words; however I will utilize applications of all subjects.
