Our Title 1 school of approximately 530 students is over 50% free and reduced lunch. We are located in the Piedmont Triad area in North Carolina. As manufacturing has declined in recent years, so has our once vibrant economy. Our school is diverse serving students from a wide range of ethnic groups with a large number of students that come from disadvantaged homes. Many students are being raised by single parents, grandparents or other family members. Some are in foster care, are transient or live at the homeless shelter. Currently, we have 50 students that participate in the backpack program. These students receive a backpack of food on Fridays and holidays to take home.
