At the beginning of the year, my students will have the opportunity to choose their very own desk pets. These desk pets will live in their magnetic "habitats" that students will keep magnetically attached to their desk. Throughout the year, as a behavior incentive, students caught making good choices and contributing positively to our classroom culture will have the opportunity to choose foods and accessories to give to their desk pets. These can be added to the desk pet habitat. The students can customize their habitats however they choose. We will also tie our desk pets into our environmental science and writing curriculums.
