My school is located in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. It is very rural and because of this our students are sometimes not exposed to as many experiences as others. Our student population has a very high level of poverty. Our district is the largest by area of any east of the Mississippi River. This presents us with challenges financially because we spend a very large portion busing our students to and from school. This year I am teaching science to the entire elementary school. My students rotate into my classroom with each student seeing me about 2 times each week. We are concentrating on improving our overall science scores with an emphasis on improving our science process skills.
