I worked as a 2nd grade teacher for 6 years. After seeing how speech and language disorders affected my students and their ability to access education and communicate with teachers and peers, I decided to go back to school to earn my masters degree in speech-language pathology. I am currently working as a speech-language pathology assistant at the same school I taught at while I finish my graduate degree. I serve 85 students from preschool to 6th grade at a low income/high poverty school. My speech students have various impairments in the areas of language, articulation, cognition, and pragmatics.
