My students come from underprivileged homes in Phoenix, Arizona and attend our Title I school. Our students do not own many books of their own, as their parents have limited funds and need to use their money to meet basic needs. Each year, I have read Stargirl as a read aloud to my fifth grade students. They love the story, and are so excited to come to my classroom each day to find out what happens in the book. For this next school year, I would love to provide each student with his or her own copy of the book to keep. I know they would be very touched to know the book was their very own. I would also like to have a folder as a place for them to keep notes and work related to the book.
