My students face challenges that I could not begin to comprehend. They have parents in jail, live in houses with no supervision or adult guidance, are responsible for caring for up to 5 siblings; I could go on all day. The point is, these kids need major support and stimulation to learn. They lack self-esteem for the most part, and cannot imagine themselves going on to college. Despite these challenges, they face each day with a smile on their faces and good will in their hearts.

About my class
