My students are in one of the best diverse public schools in Detroit. There are currently 32 students in our program. They are some of the poorest students in our school system. One fourth of our students speak Spanish. Most of the students are from single family households, with absent or incarcerated parents. All students are from low income families. All my students come to school with an excitement to learn. They push the envelope to find new things to learn within the classroom as well as outside in our outdoor space. Currently testosterone heavy with 75% boys, our classroom is unlike another. I don't want them to become statistics. They want to learn, grow, and become.
