I have filled my cart with non-fiction and poetry books that will fit a wide range of interest levels. Students need to have the opportunity to find books that interest them, as studies have shown that if a child is interested in the content of a book they will push themselves past their reading level. I have tried to focus on topics that tend to interest boy readers, as there tends to be a divide in my class where the boys struggle to find books that interest them. A wide range of book topics, and reading levels, will help every student be able to find a book that interests them. I'm hoping to create a life-long love of reading for my students.
