An air purifier in the classroom will help students focus on what they are learning rather than worrying about how poor air quality might be affecting their health. Students have already been demonstrating resilience by wearing masks in class and working with strong ocean breezes blowing through open windows, all to reduce the spread of COVID. Now they are facing the prospect of fire smoke, which can be a particular concern for my students with asthma. Ensuring good air quality will allow the classroom to be a refuge rather than a worry.
