My students are 6 and 7 years old. They attend an inner-city, public, elementary school, in Illinois. Almost all students are from low-income families and receive free lunch. Four students on the roster for the 2011-2012 school year receive special needs services. Most of the children were below the kindergarten benchmark in reading.
