My 2nd grade students come to school ready to learn every day. As a Title I school, the majority of my students come from a low socio-economic family. As education budgets have declined over the years, so have our resources. My students have a deep desire to expand their education through the use of educational apps and the Internet. We recently completed a lesson using QR codes and the use of irregular verbs. They were completely engaged but the lesson took all week because they only had my personal iPhone to use to scan the codes. My students love to listen to reading and practice their math facts online. Our textbooks are all available online but few of my students have access to a computer/tablet or the Internet at home. School is the only place where they have any exposure to technology.
