My students come from a very diverse environment and extremely different backgrounds. Many of them have not had the opportunity of being exposed to a teacher who loves and values math and who can show them how relevant mathematics can be in their daily lives. My students have shown a tremendous interest in learning about how math and technology compliment each other and they want to learn more about careers and ideas that grasp and merge the two ideas together. In the future, I plan on doing more with coding with them. In December, we participated in the Hour of Code and the majority of them were so interested in learning how to code. Many of them were saddened when the week long project was over and decided to continue beyond just that week. Several of them have completed Intro to Computer Programming on Khan Academy and I wish that we had more computers and time that we could devote to including this in our curriculum.
