Currently, students at our school have to use personal devices to create videos in student publications. This is not ideal for a variety of reasons, but mostly because it is difficult to teach children HOW to shoot and edit video when every device is different. While we do have 1:1 devices, these devices do not have video enabled. We have found ways to do some cool projects using only audio, which is available, but video would help make this a true "publications" course! Therefore, we would like to have a few iPad Minis to use just for publications. While the main use for the iPad will be shoot and edit short videos created by students, the versatility of the product will allow it to be used for our photojournalism projects, learning apps, and school newspaper editing. The addition of this tool in our publications class will open up a completely new realm of exploration and application of the concepts we discuss in the classroom.
