All of my students live in a high poverty area. 85% of them receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. 95% of them are second language learners. My school participates in a Gang Reduction and Intervention Program (GRIP). One of my students is receiving help from this wonderful program. Even though my students endure these obstacles daily, they come to school eager to learn. They are looking for that spark to light their fires.
