A classroom sink is a trivial item that many educators have the luxury of having. It makes for easy rinsing and hand washing without the loss of instructional time. However, when classrooms do not have a sink, you easily can see how needed they are. In my elementary classroom where science is primarily taught, not having a sink forces teacher prep time to be spent outside of my classroom filling up materials, or cleaning materials from a previous lesson. This time should be spent inside my classroom creating more exciting and engaging lessons for my students with my materials all ready to go. Students also lose out on key instructional time, when they are going to the bathroom to fill up a cup with water for an experiment or running to the bathroom to wash their hands because they are dirty. Having a sink in my classroom would allow students to be where they should, engaged and actively participating in the science lesson. Come help us!
