The materials that are being requested will help my creative learners in many ways. I have scholars that are movers and shakers, to say the least. They have an immense desire to learn but lack the uniformity that is often in place in traditional classrooms. They need flexible places to work that will allow them the ability to move as well as complete their tasks simultaneously. I believe this will help to better hone into on their need to focus while quenching their need to move.
Also, we are in an environment where resources are lacking, funds are strained and teachers have a desire to provide equity for students who learn in different ways. It is imperative that we move from the worksheet routine and move towards manipulatives. Students learn in many ways. There are abstract concepts in math and students need to have multiple opportunities to interact with hands-on manipulatives. Keeping this in mind I am requesting additional materials in order to increase their understanding. As they are encouraged to manipulate things they will see first hand what is actually occurring during their learning. This will increase their ability to explain better and further understand abstract concepts they will come into contact with.
