I teach in a metropolitan diverse middle school of about 600 students. I have about 50 students each year on my team. They are an ethnically diverse group and my class includes many students with special needs. Sixth grade social studies focuses on ancient civilizations. We study the middle ages during the spring of 6th grade. My students are creative and imaginative. They love hands-on projects and games that relate to ancient cultures. I can't wait to see what they will create with their cross stitch patterns and their modern day coat of arms. Every year I am amazed that even the boys sit quietly and stitch with their embroidery needles!
