My students are the most at-risk Freshman in the area. The majority of them haven't passed a state proficiency exam since 5th grade. Many of them spent their middle school years in a prevention to alternative program. We are a minority majority school and nearly 85% of my students live below the poverty level. My students have grown into freshman that come to class wanting to learn, and work hard everyday. Most students have increased their basic algebra skills and reasoning by 60% since the beginning of the school year.
