My students are ready to read. They have learned how to handle books, and are even starting to put letters together to sound out words. We already have a classroom library that parents painstakingly organized for students to use. There is just one hold up: because our class uses tables for collaborative learning, students have no place to keep books they check out from the library. Once we have seat sacks, students can keep their books at their chairs, and then easily access them in reading class, and throughout the day. This quick access to just-right books will help them learn more, faster, and tremendously improve their reading growth. We know that if students don't learn how to read at grade level by 3rd grade, they are 4 times more likely not to finish high school. Literacy is critical to their success, in school and in life. Additionally, independent reading, using books that interest and engage students as individuals, is one of the best ways for them to learn. Please donate to help our children achieve their literacy goals for Kindergarten and beyond!
