Most of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title 1 school, which means most students are on free or reduced breakfast/lunch. Our school has a great staff and works hard to give these students a positive future. My students are very bright and are very interested in learning to play musical instruments, but because they cannot afford one... they often give up on trying to learn how to play. I started an after-school Guitar Club 5 years ago. We formally meet once a week. I believe that teaching my students to play the guitar can give them the confidence to pursue their dreams.
