I am an elementary school teacher in a blue collar community. Families are struggling with how to keep a roof over their heads, work, and take care of their children. We are still working together to rebuild our bay side community from the ravages of Super Storm Sandy. Teaching children to become self-reliant and to persevere are goals that I encourage. Teaching children how to protect their bodies from disease and to develop a desire to invest in their health is one of my top priorities for my students. I want to teach children how to nurture their bodies, hearts, souls, and minds by demonstrating a love of healthy cooking that includes vegetables, fruits, seeds, healthy fats, that promote being strong, able, and clear minded. I want to teach them how to make better choices, knowing that they have control over their decisions to create life sustaining habits, and promote health and well-being not only for them but their families and hopefully the community at large.
