My students are coming from one of the poorest cities in the nation. However, this doesn't stop them from being excited about learning. They arrive at school eager to learn and participate. For some, this is a challenge. Their language deficit prohibits them from easily sharing their ideas. They search for words. Vocabulary that many take for granted is missing here. My responsibility as their teacher is to expose them to a language rich environment.
